Cathy Harbour Mounce
I was intrigued and for the rest of my life I have searched for beauty that can be found anywhere if you just look for it. I still have that shell today, holding that memory close to my heart.
In my three years of high school in Denton, TX, my art teacher, Mary LaJean Sherrill, taught me a variety of skills using different mediums, encouraging me with every project.
At the University of North Texas I was able to take many art classes from wonderful teachers. One of my pieces was featured in the school art show, a definite honor.
I earned a BBA in International Business at The University of Texas in Austin, but I never forgot my first love, Art. Throughout my life, art and design were my constant companions.
I have enjoyed working in various mediums but photography has always held a special place in my heart, especially taken in black and white without the distractions of color.
Besides photography, I have developed a great interest in working with mosaics, water color, pen and ink and pencil/charcoal design. I am also working on learning how to paint with acrylics and oils.
My life has taken me to many destinations around the world but I have come back full circle to the piney woods, not far from where I was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
My artist husband and I have recently retired to Tyler, TX with my two dogs, three cats and one horse, content to continue to explore the beauty and stories of our world.
They say home is where your heart is. If that is true, may your journey always lead you home. It did me!
